Notable Points:

  • Why do we deal with Spiritual Warfare?
    • Because we are believers.
    • We are God’s instrument to take the Gospel to the nations.
  • Spiritual Warfare: any temptation, false teaching, or division within the church.
    • We should not be defensive we should be offensive.
    • Temptation hurts our credibility when we fall into sin.
    • False teaching distorts the gospel.
    • Division causes us to stab each other in the back.
  • When we evangelize we take the light of God into the enemy’s kingdom.
  • When we disciple people we need to teach people how to put on the armor of God.
    • The basic spiritual disciplines are the main weapons that help us fight against the enemy.
    • Basic obedience defeats the enemy.
  • We learn to fight the battle in the context of relationships.
    • God created us to be in community.
    • College leaders need to be mentored so others can catch the red flags. We need people who can push us so that we are regularly in the word. If we are not consistently in the word and loving the word, we are not letting the truth of God settle in our hearts.
  • How do we determine if it is bad choices or the enemy?
    • Sometimes the question is unnecessary.
      • It can be a both.
      • Either way we have to turn from sin to God.
    • Did I open the door for temptation or an attack.
    • Are we hiding our sin?
    • Are we testing teaching against the scriptures?
